Weekly Updates

Happy Friday Parents!

We will be the starting the third week of our first unit of inquiry (How We Express Ourselves) next week. The central idea for this unit is "illustrators use pictures to convey meaning." We have been learning a lot about all the different techniques that illustrators use and the qualities of writing that they suggest in class. Next week, we will learn more about how to use these different techniques to create our own feelings book based off of the book I Feel Silly by Jaime Lee Curtis.
Please also take a moment to look at Ms. Rivers' blog (carivers.blogspot.com)  to have a better understanding of the how we set up our Reading Goals in class, and what we will be doing in class as well as what you can do at home to help each one of your child meet his or her reading goals. We have been working so hard practicing on our stamina and all the different Daily 5 strategies in class for the past few weeks. We will be starting our guided reading small groups this upcoming Monday.
