International Festival Parade

Parents,

On the morning of the International Festival, Friday, October 18th, Second grade and Fifth grade have been asked to dress up and participate in the parade that morning. To go along with this year’s theme “Legends and Fairy Tales," 2nd graders will dress up like a character from their class fairy tale story.

Our class will be dressing up like characters from The Little Mermaid (Danish) by Hans Christian Andersen. Your child has chosen to be a particular character from this story. I would appreciate it if you could help your child find a costume and come dressed in that costume the morning of October 18th (International Festival). We will line up and get ready to walk in the International Parade no later than 8:15 A.M. If you cannot find a costume for your child at home, we will be making simple headbands made out of sentence strips and construction paper in class that your child can wear during the parade. If you have any further questions about this please let me know.

Our learning objectives for the next two weeks:
Language Arts- Proper nouns, singular and plural nouns
Reading- Author’s Purpose, Facts and Details
Math- counting with coins, telling time, place value
Science- Habitats, prey, predators
Social Studies- Map Skills, identifying their city, state, and country
